JoAnn has developed a strong professional focus & commitment to 1st responders, veterans/active duty service & families.
JoAnn is a former school counselor with a total of 24 years of mental health counseling. She had a unique opportunity as a school counselor where she did mandated mental health counseling for special ed students. She took all of that experience and opened a private practice. She specialize in Integrated Nutrition for Mental Health as she studied the behaviors around: food is fuel, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia & movement for mental health. JoAnn has also studied the opposite end & is highly well-versed in eating disorders. She deepened her training in Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) and Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (REDs). REDs is a systemic health syndrome caused by a chronic energy deficit (food is fuel). By combining these modalities, JoAnn is not treating a diagnosis; she is optimizing a human system. This approach moves the client from symptom management (feeling "less bad") to optimal wellness (feeling vital, connected, & resilient).
